I've just bought a 5070. I've run the full benchmark and the gpu heavily underperforms the same model from other people. I've gotten around 23k score on the 3d graphics which is much lower than expected, which should be at around 28-29k. Could it be that my cpu, the r7 5800x is damaging the performance on the test? Or have i just gotten a bad chip

r7 5800x is an OK CPU. But is starting to show it's age.
Check the most common issues first.
1) GPU Overheating / fan issues
2) Using wrong PCIe slot
3) Old / wrong device drivers
4) Device driver settings (like forcing frame rate to be monitor refresh rate)
5) CPU over heating
6) 3rd party "tuning" software messing around with things.
Unlikely it is a bad chip. -

I was really panicking yesterday and wanted to refund my chip, but I've done some more research. I've played around with afterburner and other benchmarks and I've gotten my gpu to run at about top 20% compared with people with the same cpu and gpu. Still, my gpu score on the passmark "gpu compute", is still abnormally low, about 9.5k after oc, 9.4k before.
I've checked with chatgpt and found out there might be some incompatibilities with the software and the 5070 in specific, but as you would expect I've taken that information with a grain of salt. Do you know of another build that might solve this issues? I have the latest version of the x86, which it says is the one I should download with my architecture's pc. I'm pretty sure now that it's a specific problem with the software and not related to the card.Comment
