  • Windows XP vs. Vista X86

I'm surprized but not much....how much faster my machine benches using XP over Vista. I've run 3 complete tests using 6.1 on each hard drive....one has XP the other Vista X86. The highest score my vista drive could muster was a total of 746. My XP hard drive runs at an average of 825 with the same settings. I was not surprized to see my 3D graphics score with vista slower....855 vs 925 with XP.

Am I seeing real results? or is 6.1 not "tweaked" to run as well on Vista.
My guess is that XP is still the more "mature" OS....(by the way I did run two benchmarks with Vista SP1 and there was really no difference at all in any of the scores.

    Your mileage may vary......

    ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe
    AMD 6000+
    2 Gig Generic DDR2 Ram
    BFG 8800 GT OC
Vista Hard Drive: Seagate Sata II 320 GIG
XP Hard DRive: WD WJS SATA II 160 GIG (slower drive)

XP is widely acknowledged as being faster than Vista. Our Vista tests from 18 months ago also showed this.

The current version of PerformanceTest runs equally well on XP and Vista.
