  • scores look ok?

just finished putting together a new system and since the baseline options are pretty limiting, I wnated to check with the users to see if these seem good.

    msi p35 neo combo board
2x1gig mushkin ram (4-5-4-11 timings) in dual channel
    e4500 core2duo
    32meg seagate 500gig sata2 drive
    radeon 1900XT

cpu seems good (saw that bigass cpu chart on their site) but not sure about ram scores?

thanks in advance for any feedback!

For this type of system the RAM is mid-range, while the Disk and 3D are good.

that's what I suspected. my vista experience score is only 4.8 (cpu being 5.1 and graphics and disk being 5.9), it seemed on the low end to me. I can't figure out why because a) the p35 chipset performs just fine (from what I"ve read), and i grabbed good ram this time around, and have my bios ram timings set to exactly what the ram is spec'd at .. 4-5-4-11. when i was running 2x512meg sticks of kingmax ddr1 with my athlon x2 3800, i'm pretty sure my ram score was higher.

      any thoughts?

Maybe your RAM is slower than the comparison baselines. What is the frequency of your RAM?

Your RAM is not much slower. The small difference could be due to a number of reasons, the RAM timings, RAM heat, RAM not in paired channels. Depending on your system, there may be some tweaking you can do in BIOS.
