PerformanceTest wont start and restarts computer (O/C CPU)

Hi i just downloaded and installed the latest version of Performance test and when i try to run the program the small little screen comes up and says the program and then my screen goes black and my computer shuts down and restarts . Anyone else run into this problem ?? Thanks

As with the other problem, you haven't provided nearly enough information to know where the problem might be.

It would have been helpful if you had completed your sentence that started, "little screen comes up and says the program........"

Tell us about your hardware and O/S. In particular which O/S, which video card and which motherboard and CPU if you know the details.

Run PerformanceTest in debug mode and E-Mail or post the log file. See this page for details about debug mode,

Hi when i try to start the program a small box saying the programs name comes up in the middle of the screen and thats when everything goes black and my computer reboots. Heres my specs:

Intel 3.0c Running at 3.75 at 1.58 vcore
System is both stable in prime test and memtest
BFG 6800 Ultra Video card
Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Rev 2.0 with FH bios
2Gb Corsair Twinx1024-PC3200C2PT (4x512) Runningin dual channel mode, 2.75v 2.5-3-3-6 timings and 1:1 which is DDR500 speed.
2 74Gb Raptor hard drives in Raid0
1 80gb 7200 IDE hard drive for storage
Windows XP Professional Corprate Edition

I tired to set everything to stock and it still has the same problems . I ran all different memory timings, voltages, overclock setting and still nothing .

A system shutdown like the one you describe is normally a result of a hardware fault or device driver bug. However we would still like to see the debug log file to confirm that is is not a bug in PerformanceTest.

Hi it wont let me run debug mode. I tried to put "debugmode" at the end like it says on yoru web page and its say problem with short cut and the name in the targetbox is not valid.

This means that Windows can not find the file. This is almost defintely becuase you forgot the space character between the last " and the DEBUGMODE.

We have reviewed the debug file and believe it is unlikely that this is a PerformanceTest issue (but more likely a memory issue). However, we have added additional debug code to help confirm this. Could you please download the latest build, V5.0 1026, and provide an update of the DEBUGMODE log file.

Hi downloaded the new file and installed and now i can run the program . I cant seem to run the memory tests it seems to lock up or just sits there and does nothing . Also when i go uder tests and try a disk test it say error make sure disk is not read only . Im using 2 74gb raptors in raid0

Memory test not working

Build 1026 does not include a correction for your issue, but rather debug code to see what is happening.

Looking at the new log, and the symptoms, we believe that this is a memory problem with your PC. I would suggest testing your memory with either:
- BurnInTest (a PassMark test product) or
- Memtest86 (just search the web)

Note: The disk problem appears related to memory allocation.

Well i can run memtest and prime 95 for hours and hours and come up with no errors in my memory . I have no other problems at all running the way i have it . I have ran those tests over 24 hours each and no errors so i guess i will just not worry about using this program. Thanks for the help!!

Correct me if I am wrong, but you appear to be overclocking your CPU from 3.00GHz to 3.76 GHz. This is well outside of Intel specifications and needless to day we don't recomend it.

If this is the case it is really no surprise at all that your PC isn't stable. The problem probably isn't RAM (sorry about that) but is more likely just the overclocked CPU failing in certain conditions.

Memtest is OK for testing RAM but it does not really test the CPU. Prime95 was not designed to test your computer. It just looks for prime numbers.
