  • Reallocated Sector Count

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm somewhat new to some of this, having downloaded DiskCheckup on the advice of and via a link from PC Hacks. Would someone please tell me if there is anything that I can -- should? -- do about the "fail" message returned by the program for "Reallocated Sector Counts" and how worried I should be. The numbers are Raw Value: 492; Value: 92; Worst: 92; Threshold: 112 (everything else is marked OK).

    Many thanks.

A Fail is bad news. You should expect your drive to fail completely in the near future and so immediately back up everything important. There is nothing that can be done to fix a hard drive, except replace it. If the drive is new, return it for a refund.
