We are about to build a new server for hyperV (running about 8 VMs, some of which will have multi TB harddrive systems for file sharing) over our network of 40 users and 16 overall virtual machines on 2 servers (quad core harpertowns)..
Currently our SATA setup looks like this performance wise:
Vserver01 (diskmark values)
2 drive 160gb 16mb cache 7200 rpm mirror = 2600
8 drive 500GB 32mb cache 7200 rpm sata raid6 = 4140
I'm curious what SAS diskmarks look like in similar configs, even raid5.. my values are high as it stands right now as well.. i'm not betting that sas 15K will give that big of a performance gain, given our 40 user environment, actually closer to 15 simultaneous hits at a time on any given VM (i'm guessing)...
Anyone have any SAS benchmarks they can share?
Thanks
