Are you using PT6.1 or PT7? What resolution are you running during testing? Single or dual monitor setup? I found only one 4870 PT baseline result tested using XP 64 bit. 3D result of 1297 so your score does look low to me. Your 4870 clocks it self down in 2d and windowed 3d modes. It should clock up in full screen 3D. I did some searching and it looks like people are having problems getting their cards to clock up. I would guess the baselines that have higher results than yours were generated with the graphic's cards running at full speed. I have not played with ATI cards lately but there should be a way to make the GPU and memory clocks run at full speed in 2d and windowed 3d. Because PT does two out of three dx9 tests in windowed mode any video card that clocks down in 2d mode will test much slower than it would at full speed. Is PT wrong for testing this way? No PT is performing 2d and 3d windowed tests under the conditions the system normally runs at.

      PT 7 build 1002 (64bit).
      Monitor:Acer P243W (24" widescreen)
I only uploaded one test, until I get everything fixed. (Starts with ASUS M4A79T Deluxe).

I have ran a range of resolutions; 1024x768, 1280x1024, all the way up to 1900x1200. Results are always the same. I am getting the complex test running full screen, but says 1024x768, it goes to full 24" size on my LCD. I have changed display settings to center display of my o.s. in the middle at lower resoloutions, but that one test still pops full screen.

Tomorrow seems I will be contacting xfx about the card, to understand why it does this. the overclock only goes to 1100MHz in ati catalyst.. which, makes no sense beings the memory is supposed to be 38000MHz.. I am trying not to get too confused. Thanks for taking the time to reply

      I just found typing:

      ati 4870 down clocked

in google returns related results ^^

*Edit I found this on toms hardware http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/25...ks-back-stock:
      "
"perfectly normal, try using gpu-z to monitor the chip, then run a game in windowed mode next to it so you can see both at the same time,

should see it running at the overclocked settings."

Is it something that the 3d test is not triggering for the 4870 to run at full 3d mode? I really just want to make sure my card is okay. Maybe I will go download a game demo to test it out. Will try and post back later tonight (my time pacific), my results.

everything is slow and laggy as far as moving windows around right now while i am typing this. The fan only kicks on now and then (random, but not often) for about 2-3 seconds then goes back to low default.

Just got a vpu error / crash while alt tabbing out of the cod 4 demo. Think I am going to return/*maybe exchange this card, I want to like it.. but it doesn't seem to be working right. Will make decision after contacting xfx/ati support tomorrow.
