  • Slow Read/Write Speeds

    Hi

I recently installed a SATA HDD on a Intel P4 MOBO(D865GBF). It has on board SATA connectors but I did have to get a adaptor for the power. It's a WD Caviar Green 1 TB SATA drive(WDC WD10EADS-00L5B1) and I figured it would be at least as fast as the 5 year old 160GB Maxtor it replaced. But the PC is a pig. Doing one thing like surfing is fine...but as soon as I do anything else like UTorrent ...PIG Time.

    My PassMark Rating was 155.

    Here are the Disk scores.
    Disk - Sequential Read: 3.1
    Disk - Sequential Write: 3.1
    Disk - Random Seek + RW: 1.7
Any ideas why my drive is slow?

    Cheers

I think I've fixed it. I went into Device Manager and updated the driver on the Primary IDE. Now I'm up to 47mb/sec. I know it's better but is that a good speed?
