  • i7 920 CPU Mark Score Discrepancy

So my i7 920 on a P6T Deluxe V2 seems to be doing fine at a small OC to 3.2ghz, speed step enabled, but i'm noticing something strange with the CPU - SSE result in CPU Mark.

But, comparing it to other baselines, and even my friend's 920 with a similar OC, it's underperforming about 33% less at a score of 18.9 vs around 30 for similar configurations. Any ideas about this?

*Edit: Should probably post some of the other results

In our testing SSE are some the instructions that heat a CPU the most. So if you are just down on this one test, then it might be heat related.

Ahhhhh, i see. Thanks for the quick response. I did notice the temps spike a little on this test, and i'm using stock cooling until my xigmatek dark knight comes in a day or two.
I'll update this post for anyone having similar problems once i get that installed and retest.

So i just installed my Xigmatek Dark Knight, and ran CPU Mark. The temps never went over 50C, but i'm still getting 19.0 for CPU-SSE. Now i'm really confused.

It just occurred to me that you might not be using the latest release of the PerformanceTest software.

V7 of PerformanceTest no longer has a test called "CPU-SSE" in it.
The equivalent test is now called "CPU-Multimedia instructions".

          And in the V7 "CPU-Multimedia instructions" test a score of 18 to 20 is OK for a i7 920.

I just downloaded the newest version and reinstalled to make sure, and if i go into tests->CPU, the test is called multimedia instructions, but when it displays the results in the CPU Mark tab, the score is still under CPU - SSE.

Turns out this is a bug. In the 64bit release we are accientially displaying the wrong test title. So sorry about that. The title should be "CPU-Multimedia instructions".

But the numbers are correct and 19 is a OK score.
