Hard Drive Benchmarks

How well does the passmark score for hard drives correlate to disk performance with file system other than NTFS? Or OS other than Windows?

Would the ranking of one hdd change significantly if it was running BSD, solaris or Linux?

We haven't investigated how the file system and O/S effect the performance of various hard drives.

My guess would be that the Windows results would roughly line up with results on other operating systems, but items like device drivers, drive controllers, O/S caching, cluster sizes, DMA bus matering & support for features like NCQ can all have an impact.
