  • 2G performance test locksup

This system has ATI® RAGE™ MOBILITY™ M1 video controller, 8MB integrated memory supports pixel resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 (UXGA)
Win2008 Server and Performance test 7 fails 2D, 3D tests.
Windows has no driver for this hardware so Standart VGA driver is installed.
2G screen lock up during test and windows report this message below.

Also 3G test says: hardware only direct draw object creation not possible.

    So two questions
    1. how to disable the " hardware only direct draw object creation" if possible
    2. regarding 2G test what is possible cause of the problem?

There is an expectation that you have a video card device driver for your video card.

Clearly the card won't support 3D without a device driver designed for the card and O/S being installed. So all you can do it try an avoid running anything in 3D on the machine. (or get a video card that supports your O/S)

The 2D crash is more interesting. The crash was in gdiplus.dll. Also known as GDI+, which is a Microsoft software library for handling graphics and formatted text. It should really handle the situation where card has only standard VGA driver.

gdiplus.dll is really out of our control, but doing some searching on the internet shows that gdiplus.dll can crash for various reasons including.
    - Bad 3rd fonts installed.
    - Bad or old device drivers
    - Viruses trying to exploit an old bug in this module
