Now i'm completely lost

I recently had a break in and one of the things stsolen was my laptop. Now i'm looking to replace it. I was looking around to see what everyone thought about the core i7's. I figured a laptop with the newest chip would be the best but I see that your tests show the xenon chip to be better. I'm really lost and need some help explaining some of this. is core 2 quad better than i7. is core 2 duo better than i7. sorry i dont know sh*t about processors.

The Xeons are (in general) expensive CPUs made for server class machines. I don't think you'll find a laptop with a Xeon CPU in it from any manufacture.

The i5 and i7 CPUs are newer, and in general better, than the Core 2 range
