CPU Mark score is ~3300 vs ~3800 average posted on website. Is this OK

I have a new build with an AMD Phenom II x4 840. 4 GB ram. Windows XP 32 bit. 7200 rpm 40 GB HDD.

The score that concerns me is CPU Mark: 3292.3 vs the published 3,834 listed here: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

I'm not overclocking, I'm using the stock cooler and on board GPU.

My Windows install is brand new, there is not bloatware, Just all the updates, updated DirectX 9.0c, updated drivers.

Is this lower score OK?

Why build a new machine with such a awful hard drive?

So my CPU is OK, not defective? Everything runs fine, Prime95 for 2 hours was fine. I think temps maxed out at around 50C

Well, when I was building this system, people were frowning on the HDD and wanted me to upgrade, but the old IDE 40 GB 7200 RPM HDD is working fine except that it's loud. No clicks or anything, holds data fine. The build was ~$270 for everything except my old Wifi and old HDD.

A new 500 GB SATA HD would have been $40 more. They don't sell anyting less than $40 now. And I don't really need anything more than 60 GB.

Would a SATA HDD boost the score?

Also I have a Wifi card from 2002 (BCM3401) that I can't find 64bit drivers for...

A new $40 drive won't improve the CPU score. But it would double or triple the disk speed. Which would make the whole PC feel much better.
