  • This a reasonable test score?

Not sure if this score is rated average or slower to others with my specs.

    AMD 2.6 CPU
1 Gig Ram. (Dual Channel mode)
    250 GIG HD. Maxtor
ATI 800 Pro 256 MB Vid Card.
    Win XP
    Generic DVD/CD Writer

    CPU:

    Integer = 59.9
    Floating = 337.9

    3D Graphics Mark = 625.1
    PassMark Rating = 390.4

From that information can anyone tell me where I am being slowed the most and perhaps where I need to upgrade ?

An is there an easier way to post my results? I typed them all out as I couldnt cut and paste the igmage it saved.

    Thanks all.

You can export results to HTML, then do a cut and paste. Or post a link to the HTML file if you have a web site.

For people who have purchased the software we keep a database of benchmark results. This can be accessed from inside PerformanceTest (under the 'baseline' menu).

There is also a web page version here,
    http://www.passmark.com/baselines/searchdb.php

This feature allows you to compare you machine to others.

It would have helped if you have stated exactly which CPU you have (there are about half a dozen Athlon variants running at 2.6Ghz).

Or do you mean you have a Athlon 2600+ (which really run at about 1.8Mhz)?

Disk speed is good. Video is OK, you won't get much better without spending significant money. Memory & CPU are probably OK, but hard to judge as we don't know what CPU you have.

      Barton I believe.

Yes the CPU is in fact the 2600+ which shows itself at 1912mhz. I have cmos set for highperformance.

As far as my video score goes. The OK. Is my card really that average> I was under the impression it was a fairly decent vid card. Perhaps I was mis lead. =p

As far as upgrading would my CPU then be my priority? I have some moneys to put into my machine. CPU the way to go?

The Radeon X800 Pro is a good card. But not the fastest.

All of the following cards are probably faster (in general, on average)
        GeForce 6800 Ultra
        GeForce 6800 GT
        Radeon X800 XT
        Radeon X850 XT
        Radeon X850 XT PE
        GeForce 7800 GT
        Radeon X1800 XL
        Radeon X1800 XT
Dual installations of any of the above cards using SLI will also be faster.

Where to spend you money depends on how you use your PC. For example disk speed might be more important if you do database work.

If it was me, I wouldn't upgrade. I would save my money a buy a whole new machine (MB, CPU, HD & RAM) in another 12 months.

Then get a dual (or maybe even quad) core 64bit CPU and run Windows Vista 64bit. At the moment it is bleeding edge but in a year it will be almost mainstream.

X800XL is also faster than Pro. 12 pipes really hampers the X800Pro.
