  • Erroneous CPU Mark? (HP xw4400/2.13GHz)

I got a strange CPU Mark for my HP wx4400 workstation with Core2 processor with 2.13GHz clock (CPU Mark = 780.9).

The baseline is completely the same, but CPU Mark is 1285.0. Other similar computers have CPU Mark in the range of 1100 and 1400.

Curiously, all CPU sub-results are better than the baseline (with few percent variation).

    Any suggestion please?

Which model Core 2 CPU do you have?

The baseline is completely the same
    The same as what?
If you are comparing to other baselines, can we have your baseline number and the numbers of the other ones you are looking at.

What version of PerformanceTest are you using?

The baseline computer (sorry for poor English) is also xw4400 with 2.13 GHz clock (uploaded 22/Jun/2009). Results comparison:

        PerformanceTest 7 Beta
        Why?
If this is true, this is a very old release now.
Try the current (non beta) V8 release instead.

Also 32bit machines will score lower than 64bit machines. So this is most likely part of the issue.

Why T Beta? Because I downloaded it from CNET few hours ago.
Regarding compared machines, as fas as I know, both are 64bit, but run 32bit Windows XP. Wait, maybe I'm wrong... I will try V8 on both 32bit and 64bit XP.

The CNET web site is somewhat broken.
There are numerous wrong, outdated, duplicated and discontinued products that they list. We tried to clean up our listings, but there is no way to combine listings, nor even remove a listing for our own software. We also caught them adding 3rd party crapware into our installers.

You are better off getting the software direct from the developers site.

Well, I installed V8 Trial, and executed tests under 32bit and 64bit XP. Results are interesting: CPUMark (32bit) = 1298; CPUMark(64bit) = 1541 (after restart).

The problem becomes interesting after another restart (to boot in 32bit XP). I performed a new measurement, and all CPU results were significantly worse, e.g. CPUMark(32bit)=970. I don't understad what is happening, but it seems quite strange to me.

Well, thank you David for your kind assistance.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

The initial CPUMark results, 1300 to 1500, are about what you would expect. See,

After the 2nd reboot there might have been background activity running on the machine. (e.g. downloading / applying Windows patches)

Try it again, but leave it for a while after booting, until the machine is idle.

You are right. After sufficient idle the CPU Mark is 1255. Thank you!
