From a benchmark point of view there isn't much difference.
Win8 doesn't significantly improve or harm the CPU, RAM, Disk, 3D, 2D speeds.
We were a bit surprised for the 2D result. As the Win8 desktop doesn't have as much fancy rendering. But it doesn't seem to have made for significantly faster 2D performance.
