  • i5-7500 slower than i5-8500 ?

    Hi guys,

i've tested some machines with ident config and software (windows 10).
    version PassMark 9 1025 used
CPU RAM CPU 2D Memory Disk 3D result
    i5-7500T 8 GB 2400 MHz 7070 720 2013 9151 1026 3274
    i5-7500 8 GB 2400 MHz 7465 813 2129 8159 968 3391
    i5-8500T 8 GB 2666 MHz 9812 658 2211 23331 620 3018
    i5-8500 8 GB 2666 MHz 11391 661 2285 20854 597 3053
why have newer CPU types a lower score?

    thx for your help

The PassMark score is a combination of the other individual marks. If these are truly the same configuration (e.g. same parts, besides the CPU), then from the results you provided, you should investigate the hard drives installed on the systems. The CPU Marks themselves show that the i5-7500T < i5-7500 < i5-8500T < i5-8500.

      hi, thx for your info.

      well, both SSDs are NVMe

i5-7xxxx -> 2400 MHz Toshiba SSD (half speed, dunno exactly why - i get in ASS benchmark 1/5 of write speed as well)
      i5-8xxxx -> 2600 MHz Samsung SSD

2D and 3D Tests are different (newer CPUs have lower score).

well, i've found some benchmarks results of older version - tested with i5-7500T -> only PassmarkRating
      PerformanceTest 9.0 1020 64-bit: 2984
      PerformanceTest 9.0 1024 64-bit: 2920
      PerformanceTest 9.0 1025 64-bit: 3274

hmm, why are there such differences shouldn't it be nearly the same?

      thx and BR

You would need to look at the individual results to see which score changed. Something obviously changed a bit. e.g. new updated device drivers, maybe the disk is now full and it wasn't before. etc..

have sent u an email with log files.
seems like the DX10 tests are not been done; maybe this could cause low performance
