  • Poor Memory Performance - all figure above 80th percentile, 10th for latency

    Hi,

I just got a new system and I'm having weird results on the memory testing. The system is:

    MSI MEG Creator
    AMD Threadripper 2950X
    64 GB G.SKILLZ Trident @ 3200 MHz 14-14-14-34

When I run the memory testing I get these results:

    Database: 88 (80%)
    Read uncached: 14727 (83%)
    Read cached: 29241 (88%)
    Available: 59126 (99%)
    Threaded: 70058 (99%)
    Write: 11278 (90%)

    Latency: 70 (10%)

    Memory Mark: 2194 (70%)

The latency one looks clearly out of place - any idea what it may be about?

    Thanks

Many AMD CPU's have poor RAM latency test results and perform significantly below Intel CPU's in this test (Latency with AMD CPUs vs Latency with Intel CPUs).

For most applications the latency doesn't have a big impact. What isn't shown in the random latency figure is the effect of the cache in the CPU and the linear latency which aren't nearly as bad as the random latency (there is a screenshot with the latency linear results for a 1950x here).
