  • Installing PerformanceTest with Windows Vista Beta 2

We have tested PerformanceTest V6.0 under both x86 and x64 Vista Beta 2. There are some issues we need to correct, but it installs on our test systems. Unfortunately, an error message is incorrectly displayed "This program has been damaged, possibly by a bad sector of the hard drive or a virus. Please reinstall it.". If you receive this error message, you can ignore it for now. PerformanceTest will run from the All Programs selection or from the PerformanceTest installation directory.

    Regards,
    Ian (PassMark)

Update: We believe this problem is resolved in Vista RC1

We have also had a report that the "Number of processors" field in the Edit / Preferences window is not being correctly set by PerformanceTest on 64bit Vista with dual Opteron CPU's.

This means the CPU test will only run on one CPU and not two. Leading to low results.

Manually entering 2 in the "Number of processors" field fixes the problem.

It is not clear at this point if other CPU's are effected on Vista 64bit.

This problem will be investigated and corrected if required for a new PerformanceTest release that will support Vista.
