Upgraded and still slow

I have a Dell XPS desktop but have replaced everything. I have an AMD R9 video card and R9 memory (16 gig), a Crucial 256 gig SSD drive, an ASUS H97M-Plus motherboard and an Intel 4th gen I7 CPU (4790K). I expected to see incredibly fast responses, but haven't plus there is some lag time in loading programs. I have Windows 8.1 and reinstalled everything. When I try to play certain games (not online) I still get error messages that my old Video Card does not have the latest software. I did a benchmark and it seems to be faster than others listed, but I don't see it. Any help please.

SSD's are fast, but not infinitely fast. So there is always going to be some lag. Especially for loading up games that tend to load up a lot of small files as they start up.

Do you have the latest video card device driver installed?
