  • Direnct 9 Complex doesn't work

Hi, there is another thread with the same problem from mid 2014 without a solution.

Direct 9 Complex Test results in a white screen (windowed).

Tried the single test, all resolutions between 680 and 1024 Pixels (width) result in the same error.

    CPU: AMD FX-8320
    GPU: EVGA GTX 780
    MB: GA-990FXA-UD3

    Win7 on Intel SSD

I assume the other thread you referred to is this one?
        http://www.passmark.com/forum/showth...ectx-9-3D-test

We asked the user a bunch of questions, which were never answered.

Later in the thread another user had the same problem and it was eventually resolved with a updated driver in Win7 & Win8.

So here are the same questions as we posed in the other thread,

"The DirectX9 test has been stable for several years (and working on over 500,000 machines), so we need to be looking for what is special about your machine.

Can you try it again without overclocking.

Do you using dual / tri monitors?

Are you running on the default settings in the device driver?

Are you using any 3rd party software that might interfere with the video performance (e.g. remote desktop, fraps, etc..)"

          - No, but this one is better.

          - I am not overclocking. All settings are defaults.

Do you using dual / tri monitors?
          - Yes, but not for testing, I have deactivated the other 2 monitors.

Can you run PerformanceTest in debug mode and send us the log.

Debug log seems to be saying you have 4 video cards in the machine.
                Is that true?

No I have only one card installed, the card has 4 ports for monitors:

                  1x HDMI
                  1x DisplayPort
                  2x DVI

I am in contact with Mr. Rowling and have send a new debug report to him.
Maybe he is able to give some hints, I will post a solution if available.

So I used Nvidias Surround Mode to change the desktop resolution from 3x1920x1080 to 5760x1080 Pixel.

                    Now the benchmark works.

                    Thanks.

Just wanted to add my $0.02. I have the same problem on a machine with Intel HD4000 integrated graphics. All tests work fine except the DirectX 9 Complex. I installed the latest drivers from Intel, tied multiple settings in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel to get it to work, nothing worked. If I force my display resolution to 1024x768 the test will run. My native resolution is 1920x1200 (24" display). This is the only way I was able to get the test to run. Every other option ended up with a freeze until I quit the test. Perhaps Intel has re-introduced DirectX 9 problems into their drivers.

                      Thanks,

                      Todd

                        Toddsts,
I just tested the latest Intel Drivers with a HD4600 GPU, the complex test at 1920 x 1200 native resolution and default device driver settings. It worked OK.

The DirectX 9 Complex test runs at just 1024x768, and (in my case) the display correctly resets itself to the desired resolution.

So whatever the problem is, it isn't just a simple case of the device driver version. It is probably a combination of factors leading to some special case.

                        What O/S are you running?
Are you running 32bit or 64bit?
Do you have any other GPUs in the machine?
What version of PerformanceTest are you running?
How many monitors do you have connected?
                        How is the monitor connected?
What 3rd party software is on the machine?
