This is new and over ALL the years, I've never seen it happen before.

Yesterday was Windows Update Tuesday ... and today was a AMD Adreniline update. I wish I would have tried running this inbetween.

Before anyone asks, I already put the PerformanceTest folder in the Windows Defender 'Ignore List'.

Isn't universal. Full patched Win11 machine with nVidia 1650 doesn't have the problem.

    What hardware do you have?
What version of Windows do you have?
Do you know what patches were just install for Windows?
    Does DirectX9,10 & 12 test work OK?

Despite what the message says, we haven't had any problems with false positives from anti-virus software for a few years now. So that is unlikely to be the problem.

There was this recent DirectX bug in Windows update with Intel video drivers.
      https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...H2#3010msgdesc

"After installing KB5019980, you might receive an error with apphelp.dll on Windows devices using Intel graphics drivers with versions 26.20.100.7463 up to 30.0.101.1190. This issue might happen intermittently and affects apps which use DirectX or Direct3D to render part or all of their content."

I suspect you have an AMD video card however (or maybe dual video cards)?

        Patches? It's fully up-to-date.

The DX11 section is the only one that throws this error.

Let's see if more users post anything similar in the coming days.

We tested with the closest hardware we have to your config.
ASUS Radeon RX 6600 XT video + Threadripper 2990X CPU
Windows update to latest patches doesn't seem to cause a problem for DX11 test for this config.

And today there are reports that the latest AMD video card drivers (Adrenalin 23.2.1, 14/Feb/23) are messing up Windows.
            https://wccftech.com/latest-amd-rade...pting-windows/
(this seems to be mostly crashes and boot issues however, so maybe not the same as the issue here).

I rolled back the AMD package. That fixed it.

Thanks for the update. We'll run some tests with this driver version on our RX6600 XT over the next couple of days.

Update: The DX11 problem could be reproduced with current AMD drivers and RX6600 XT. So maybe the problem is just specific hardware, or a specific combination of software.

If anyone else see's this problem with just the DirectX11 test, please let us know.

What driver version are you using now?
Was it working before you did the driver update?
Do the DirectX9,10 & 12 tests work OK?
