PC with i7-12700 0% worse 2D mark that the PC with i5-12500. When raised I was told that this is a problem with Performance Test itself. 2D test does not run exclusively on GPU but also use several CPU cores (not all) and the higher clock speed of the i5 is also a factor. Is this correct?

The 2D test uses both the CPU and GPU. So it is to be expected that changing the CPU could change the result.
i5-12500 has turbo clock speed of 4.6Ghz, but base of 3.0Ghz for all cores, 6/12.the higher clock speed of the i5 is also a factor
i7-12700 has turbo clock speed of 4.9Ghz, but base of 2.1Ghz for all cores, 12/24.
So i7 is likely faster for 1 thread and faster for a large number of threads (e.g. >12).
But for an intermediate number of threads it is going to be much closer.

the 0% was a typo. The i7-12700 was 10% worse in the 2D mark. Thank-you for the fast response.Comment
