  • Possible source of low 2D scores being pdf rendering.

So ran another test after a quick rebuild of my system the other day and my 2D scorer really stood out to me with a bismal 50 per cent on a 4080 super. Which is strange considering I know some months ago I ran the test with a 99th percentile. Looking into the score is a bit further, I saw all of my test results were still in the 99th percentile. One, pdf score. It actually failed the test. Why I don't have the slightest idea and after 3 or four tries it finally ran once but still gave it an appalling low end score. Shall post score results and system specs below. There's any log files that I could send to be helpful please let me know.

ID:	58613 I'll spare your scroll wheel and you could take my word for it as the rest of the scores were in the 99th percentile. Anything I can do to help please let me know and I will send it along. Also posting system specifications below

There is a discussion here about low PDF rendering scores
    https://forums.passmark.com/performa...rendering-test

You can create a log file. But if it is just slow (and not getting any errors) then the log might not show much.

I read through a few of the post concerning 2D problems. I went in and disabled any overlay in my system I also made sure gsync is turned off nvidia drivers are freshly installed and clean installation with no customizations. I've also unplugged all monitors but my 144hz. Still the exact same result. A curious thing about the test while it's running it seems to hang at multiple points during the test. I'm not sure how this will be helpful but I'm willing to help bug check as best I can. You want me to send you an error log?

Video is private, so we can't view it.

This matches the other report we had (see link above).
We've done a bunch of runs on a few different test machines and don't see this issue. But we'll try on a few more.

We had a look at the distribution of results for the PDF rendering test for the 4080 SUPER. Here is the graph.

So whatever is causing your 7fps result, it isn't common at all. Maybe 1 machine in 1000.

vsync on, locks it, vsync off, sorted and faster - you can do it for the pdftest program only

the 2d tests are effectively irrelevant now, most machines will perform similarly, indeed a 5 year old cheap intel build "marks" higher on 2d than a brand new 20k threadripper build

Graph above shows that all machines are not in fact the similar (even with an identical video card). But it is true that 2D performance isn't very linked to price. Low end machines can do reasonably well.
