  • Passmark how to stop getting excluded error " Multiple baselines ..."

    Hello,

I’m currently benchmarking several laptops and I ran into the following message when uploading baselines to PassMark’s database:

“Multiple baselines submitted from this machine within a short period of time. This baseline is excluded from the global charts.”

At first, I assumed this exclusion was a limitation of the free version of PerformanceTest.
However, after purchasing and activating a licensed copy, I still receive the same exclusion message if I upload more than one baseline within roughly 30–60 minutes on the same machine.

    My questions are:
    1. Is this exclusion limit expected even for licensed users?
    2. Does the paid license remove or alter this limitation?
    3. Is there a recommended way to submit multiple baselines from the same system without triggering the exclusion filter?
I want to ensure that my uploads are accepted properly and not auto-excluded from the global charts if I’m following the correct procedure.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

Yes, we didn't want duplicate (or triplicate) results from the same machine in the average results.
This came about as we had people submitting 100s of submission from the same machine, in some cases this was malicious or attempted fraud. Trying to trash a competitor, or boost results for their own machine to win a large laptop tender.

In additional to auto-exclusion, we also manually exclude duplicates from time to time where we think there was some fraudulent agenda.

But it does make things a bit tricky with newer laptop models, because a lot of them have advanced thermal sensors and adaptive cooling profiles. Their performance actually improves after a few consecutive runs once the system stabilizes thermally.
So the difference between run #1 and run #4 or #5 can be pretty noticeable on modern hardware. After 5 runs per laptop I would say the auto-exclusion can get in and exclude duplicates, In my opinion I think that is fair.

Also, is there any way that I could save a baseline using only the CPU Mark test or do I have to run the whole Passmark bench test in order to get the online URL with the baseline ID?

You can still upload your benchmarks, they are recorded in our database, but the duplicate baselines are only excluded from the online averages. If you uploaded with an API Key, you can view all your uploaded baselines and track your performance. See support page, How can I track and compare my baseline results over time?

To upload the baseline to our servers you will need complete benchmark run, however, if you save the benchmark locally to your machine it is not required. From the "File" menu, you can select Save Baseline.

We've never seen or even heard of such a thing.

The opposite is common however. It gets hot and then throttles with heavy use.

If the machine gets faster with use, then I think there is something else going on (like Windows updates running for a while in the background, then stopping). Or you are just seeing random variance, which is also common.
