  • DUO 2 E6700 Results. Are they any Good? CPU mark 1717.56

Are these good results 4 my system. Would a better graphics card boost my score by much?

That's a big result for the CPU test.

Yes if you had to pick a weak point on this system, it is the graphics card. It is only worth replacing however if you play the latest 3D games in high resolution. On older 3D games the 7300 is fine (in my opinion).

      low score..pleased help

      Hi
      I noticed this large score.
Do you mind if i ask how you got such a high score?
      i get a score of 829
      I am using a
      Asus P5W64 motherboard
      Qx6700 cpu
      2 x 1gb ram ddr2 800
      1 x 7800gtx
      2 x 72gb raptor 16mb cache drives

i am lost where in what i am doing...please guide me in the right way.

The big score was only for the CPU Mark test suite (1717).

The overall result was 805. Which is in fact lower than your score of 829.

apexi, I would be interested to know your individual scores. I would like to see how well your Quad CPU does on that motherboard for individual CPU and Memory. I was thinking of getting a P5B... Were you using V6 passmark, was the CPU count under preferences set to 4?

mpjh86, what motherboard and memory are you using? It appears that those CPUs usually score from 1600 to 2000 for CPU overall.

          John.

I use the P5WDG2 WS Professional which i rate highly. The memory i use is Corsair TWIN 2X2048-6400. I have just changed processors from the E6700 which made 17.17 on the cpu score (overclocked 2 about 3ghz) to the x6800 which achieved 1810 straight out of the box.

I am contemplating buying one of those Raptor 10000rpm drive but have heard mixed reviews such as the fact it only supports sata 1 and not sata 2 like most new drives. Will a better hard drive boost performance enough to warrant the cost of buying one?

The value of a 10K or 15K drive really depends on how you use your PC. If you are doing a lot of intensive disk activity (e.g. running SQL server on a busy web site) then high end drives are easier to justify.

If you are using your PC as a games machine, then don't expect the game to be much faster with a new hard drive (except maybe with the level load delay).

Can't wait for the mainstream fully solid state drives to arrive on the market.
