  • Puzzled at Advanced disk test

    Hi Sir:
I am a new user of the passmark performance test, when I use the advanced disk test to test my disk ,if i set the difference block size, the test result different, for example, when i set the file size as 100MB,and the block size is 4096 Bytes, the result is 41.72MB/s,then I set the block size is 104857 Bytes, the result is 117.74 MB/s.Could you give me some advice how to set the block size? And what can I base on to set the block size?

    Thanks

Different applications write and read data in different sized blocks. For example a database program with small records might only transfer 300 bytes at a time.

So PerformanceTest allows you to select different block sizes to create different test scenarios.

In general larger blocks, that are multiples of 4K, have less overhead, than smaller blocks of odd sizes. Less overhead means higher speed.
