Requirements id link not working

The requirements field displays the requirement as a link, however clicking on this link does nothing, i.e. the external document is not displayed. I have got my requirements path set up, and if I open the test case and click the launch button I am able to open my requirements document. It seems that there is a bug in opening requirements from the main test case window.

Are you linking to a web application or a local one?

The requirements document is on our internal website (intranet).

So it's a http:// link you're using? Do other http links work, if you just enter a web address in a test case field can you view it properly?
