DNS Issue for remote database?

We recently moved our test link DB to a new box.

I can still access the db by using the IP address, but not if I use the DNS. Any suggestions? (DB is on a windows server 2003 box)

\\10.xxx.0.xxx\Shared\TestLogDB\xxxxxTestDB works (through vista VM with TestLog installed)

but

\\qa.xx.mycompany.int\Shared\TestLogDB\xxxxxTestDB fails.

Is this a TestLog issue or something else?

It sounds very much like a DNS issue if you can connect via the IP but not the computer name. If you map a network to the shared database are you able to connect to the database then?

Are you able to access the server through explorer using both methods?
