  • which wireless PCMCIA NICs work?

I have been trying to get the software to run on Cisco, Belkin, and Linksys PCMCIA NICs and it says it can't initialize the driver. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a different brand of NIC or driver?

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Aloha,
    John

We just put up a new beta version of WirelessMon today. It has some better error reporting. So you might want to download this new version to start with,
    http://www.passmark.com/ftp/wirelessmon.exe

To start with there are two things to check.

1/ If you have Windows95, 98, ME or NT. It will never work, as we don't support these O/S. We only support 2000, XP & 2003 for this product.

2/ You need to be logged in as the administrator.

If you still have a problem (and you might) please let me know and I'll give you the next debugging steps.

If you still have a problem then here is a procedure to generate a log file. A log file will help us locate problems in the software,

Can you right click on the WirelessMon icon on your desktop and select
properties. Then add the string DEBUGMODE on the command line. See the image below for an example of how to do this.

Then start WirelessMon by double clicking on the icon and you should see a window telling you that debug mode has been enabled. A text file will then be created in the WirelessMon installation directory, called WirelessMonTestLog.txt

Can you please send us this file.

The contents of the file will look something like,
      0.000s - DEBUG: Starting...
0.000s - DEBUG: New Instance of WLAN802_11 initialize successfully
0.000s - DEBUG: Network Card Service has been started successfully
