  • Garmin GPS20x problem

    Hi,

I purchased a USB Garmin 20X receiver specifically to test passmark wirelessmon.

now that am aware of Garmin USB devices not outputting NMEA to com port, there is an application called 'Spanner' which basically output NMEA to a com port you specify (virtually)

problem is ... wirelessmon doesn’t receive the coordinates, when i try to use the function 'set using gps' in the Map options i get an error, The Last Received GPS coordinates are invalid. Please check your GPS setting in the general options and that your GPS is receiving signals.

on the other hand testing it against netstumbler, everything seemed going well i was able to receive GPS coordinated (NMEA 0183)

    -----

I Tried playing around in the General configuration menu but no luck!

In the General options, in the GPS section there is a "Log raw data" checkbox, could you please enable this option.

This will save any data read from the GPS in a file named “serialLog.txt” in the application data directory (\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PassMark\WirelessMon on XP or \ProgramData\PassMark\WirelessMon on Vista).

Could you please post the contents of the file here or send a copy to use via email, http://www.passmark.com/about/contact_us.htm.

It looks like the connection is working fine but WirelessMon uses the GGA message for the lat and long and according to the log this message is currently invalid (the fix quality is 0 and the number of satellites is 0). Was this soon after the GPS was turned on as it appears it doesn't have a satellite lock yet?
