  • GPS Problem

Using a Garmin GPS, WirelssMon is only able to obtain latitude and not longitude settings. It tells me it has a GPS signal with 5 Sats, but if I look in the LOGS or the MAP screen, only the LATITUDE is valid. Here is a line from the GPS log:

    $GPGGA,145314,4145.9344,N,07240.5714,W,1,04,1.7,33 .9,M,-33.6,M,,*4E

so when looking at the map screen, I get:

    Lat: 41.xxxxx (converted to decimal)
    Lon: 0.000000
    OFF MAP (of course)

in the AP Logs and connectedAPLogs, the last 2 columns read:

    41.765530,0.000000

any quick tricks to fix this problem?

    Thanks!

    some more info

After taking my laptop indoors (0 satellites acquired), the GPS continued to send its last known coordinates. The MAP page in WirelessMon, however, behaved a little differently. It kept alternating the Longitude value between 0.00000 and 7240.55280

The output now from the GPS:
    $GPGGA,154301,4145.8979,N,07240.5528,W,0,00,,,M,,M ,,*4D

I did enable all of the other NMEA sentences to no avail. Previously, just GPGGA was selected.

Also, for the latitude, WirelessMon is doing a correct conversion between the NMEA output and dd.ddddd format. i.e. 4145.xxxx converts to approx 41.76xxx in WirelessMon.
