  • Memtest86 showed error. Other aplications - not.

Hello. When I checking 4GB by memtest86 (and also 86+) gives a lot of errors. I got very upset.
    Other memory modules do not issue errors (2 x 8 GB, 1 x 2GB)
However, no one other program for testing memory no found error. Including, most importantly, WINDOWS MEMORY DiaGnostic tool (advanced test) does not find a error during many hours of testing. The computer works for many days in a row with one module (with high loading)and there are no problems or BSOD.
The question is ... what the hell is that?
    What confuses me.
    1. Test errors are displayed outside of physical memory.
    2. UEFI test shows more physical memory than installed.
    3. If manually set the upper memory limit of 4078MB , then the tests pass without problems.
    Gigabyte motherboard on z68
    Gold EMpire 4gb memory module
P.s. Why uefi and non uefi version of memtest show different speed testing, 5000 vs 9000mb if you say "Because it wery old application" then why oldest memtest86+ show better speed?

So the three best memory testing tools available all report there is bad RAM and you don't want to believe it? Then you replace the RAM and the errors disappear. But still don't want to believe there was a RAM error? A 4GB stick of DDR3 is only worth $15. It doesn't make sense to spend hours trying to debug it.
(BTW you didn't run the most current version of MemTest86, but I expect the result will be the same).

It might not have effected Windows as that bit of bad RAM might be used for something non critical in Windows. Like the disk cache. Of course you might see other random effects (e.g. corrupt files on disk, Excel calculating wrong values for formulas, etc... it will be totally random).

The address can be higher than physical RAM as some space is made available for memory mapped devices in the address space.

You inattentively read the post, missed some of the text and questions and did not look carefully at these pictures.
      1. UEFI test shows 4160MB of total memory.
      2. noUEFI test for ONE pas shows 840 errors. (840 СARL !!!)
I have come across many broken RAM and even if there was one (real error) any other programs including the internal memory test built into WINDOWS reported an error, and there were errors with the BSOD during work. This time there is nothing. I even specifically turned off the paging file for testing and when testing disconnected caching, it was slow but there were no errors.
(Do you really believe that, with 840 errors in memory, built in Windows tester would not have found errors?)
I am a supporter of common sense. I see a working module but I cannot explain the behavior of the program. I will not even argue that there are actually NO errors in it. I do not have the opportunity in the near future to test the module on another motherboard. but 840 is MUCH! That is why I ALREADY spent a lot of time testing and creating a post that you partially ignored. because it needs a competent detailed technical response that will help not only me but also other people.
And along the way a question. How can i make sure that there are any errors when running Windows?

        Yes, totally.

it needs a competent detailed technical response
Doesn't make sense for you, me or anyone else to spend time investigating a $15 broken part.

I did not immediately write what I think about your competence. But now I just have to do it.

Tests on other motherboards did not reveal any errors. (memtes86 + Also) so, best, these programs are for testing, there is no aphid, but people need to know about such nuances.
Guys, I do not know who both of you are, but I cannot call you specialists. Maximum - moderators or sellers. And if so, then why do you even answer the topic? Pass by and do not mislead people !!!
Answers in the style of schoolboy "just buy newone", this is absolutely not what you expect when you contact a specialized forum. Do you even have the assumption that there could be several sets of computers and that if there are a couple of dozen computers, then at all you need to change the details right away? Or is it a specific memory incompatibility? Or BIOS settings that give the wrong voltage or timings?
By the way, memtest also sets timings in its own way which differ from those in bios, which is probably also the reason. But then the reason is in the program and more precisely NOT in the corrupted memory module.

          Conclusion:
Memtest86 - may produce a LOT of errors on good memory, on some motherboard models. It needs to be on the first page in f.a.q. And hung up on the forum. And ideally, already start collecting statistics.

Guys, I do not know who both of you are
I'm the owner of the company & been involved with testing computer & telco hardware for 30 years. Unfortunately we have millions of users, but only a few hours for (free unpaid) support per day. So it make sense to spend time on the important stuff. Like software bugs. And your $15 RAM stick doesn't qualify for hours of support time. Sorry.

By the way, memtest also sets timings in its own way which differ from those in bios
MemTest86 doesn't set any timings. It always uses BIOS settings. So your RAM is bad in that machine.

If you are going to resort personal attacks we'll delete the post and you'll be banned.
