  • Reset or Freeze during test with "all CPUs" activated

    With last v6 beta 3 we experience problems with dual XEON E5-2658 v2 (Ivy Bridge) + 32GB ECC DDR3 :
    - When trying to activate test on all CPU in // (40) - System is resetting after less than 30s of test.
    - When trying the round robin option, system gets freezed after 36 or 37s.

    We know the system to be running fine and to be stable under Linux.

    Any idea?

    #2 -> We still have some display "garbage" on C226 chipset + I3-4330 CPU:
    When trying to go back to the menu after starting a test (c), we have the menu on top of the testing display.
    In fact display areas are not cleared anymore: each time you call a function, it is displayed on the top of the previous one.

    Thank you for your help.

    Does this happen under previous betas or v5.1.0 as well?

    Does it freeze in single CPU mode?

    Please upload or e-mail the MemTest86.log file under EFI\BOOT\

    As for the display issues, this may have been fixed in this build:

      Hello and Happy new Year to you all from France !!

      - With 5.1.0: System is resetting when calling the CPU selection menu. So it is impossible to test in multi CPU mode.
      - With 6 Beta3 Build4: We can enter the CPU menu but, even if using single CPU test mode, if we select a CPU different of 0, then the system reset just when beggining the test.

      //
      Garbage on the display : Solved on all systems we checked !!

      //
      One small suggestion for French translation : "flèche" instead of "fléchées"

        This problem was related to a bug in the UEFI part of the BIOS.

        It is solved now and everything runs perfectly !

        Thank you for your help and support.

          Just in case other users encounter the same problem, was the solution a BIOS upgrade?
          What was the motherboard model?

            Mobo is SuperMicro X9DRE-TF.
            For the moment the new BIOS has not officialy be released. It will be probably soon.
