  • Bugs in 10.2

On exit with "End Test" 10.1 shows a memory modules pictures, then report, then exit to main menu.
On exit with "End Test" 10.2 shows a blank place instead of memory modules pictures, and do not exit. On pressing any key - Esc, Enter, etc screen blinks several times and stop responding. No reaction on KB or mouse. But unit do not completely freezes - can be rebooted with Ctrl-Alt-Del.
Captured video from Supermicro BMC, converted to gif, but newbies seems to be are not allowed uploading gifs, so uploaded to third party free hosting - https://gifyu.com/image/SvfyE

Tested on several Supermicro MBs and Asus b75 with different memory.
Also 10.2 can completely freeze without showing any errors after 100+ running hours with only reset button or power cycle recovery.

And for statistics purpose can confirm dim colors on supermicro built-in BMC-video Aspeed 2400 on x10 MBs. On connected monitor and via java remote-kvm. In this topic: https://forums.passmark.com/memtest8...ss-test-colors mentioned Aspeed 2500 and 2600 BMCs.
But not only, some MBs/VGAs produce dim colors too. Never botheredб but after reading this topic got interested, will update with photos/screens if find any.

      Attached zipped log.
Looks like MT can's set resolution to show graphics. If autoexit-autoreport is set, it saves valid bitmaps on flash.
There is 2 old square vga monitors for testing - both 1280*1024 Samsung SyncMaster 720N and E1920NR.

      Code:
      2023-01-18 10:22:54 - Test aborted

2023-01-18 10:22:54 - All memory ranges successfully unlocked
      2023-01-18 10:22:56 - Test result: PASS (Errors: 0)
2023-01-18 10:22:57 - Supported motherboard ("X10SLL-F") and chipset ("Intel E3-1200v3") detected. Display individual DIMM results.

      2023-01-18 10:22:59 - Warning - Text outside screen (XPos=847, YPos=546, Width=16, Height=19)
And looking through log - there is 3 warnings "2023-01-17 16:17:18 - [CONFIG] Unknown line: """ - this must be 3 blank lines without # sign in sample config. May be this should be corrected?

Aspeed 2300 (E3C226D2I) - graphics seems ok! But colors are dim like on other Aspeeds..
Intel vga (i5-3570) - graphics ok!
May be Supermicro use some bad implementation or buggy firmware for it's bmc-vga...

This may be related to the issue with setting the screen resolution - does this happen only on IPMI console or also locally with a monitor?
If you go to the 'Settings' page in the main menu, are you able to change the resolution to any of the available options?

Because drawing the graphics will exceed the screen resolution, it does not get drawn. The "blinking" screen is likely due to the selection of the currently highlighted option (hidden due to the low screen resolution), which is one of the following:

        Code:
        Show Front/Back Side
        Previous Page
        Next Page
        Save DIMM results to file
        Continue
We'll see if we can add a workaround such as select the "Continue" option by default or allowing the user to press 'Esc' to continue.

Does this happen consistently after a specific duration? On any specific board?

If you have the logs, can you upload or e-mail us a copy.

With local monitor attached and via remote java-kvm without monitor attached to vga out.
Nothing happens when trying to change resolution from 800*600 to 1024*768, when trying 1280*1024 screen blink and returns to 800*600. Log attached.
Looks like it's bug of supermicro Aspeed 2400. Got several boards of this type - all the same.

Already got it - down arrow 4 times and Enter 2 times to exit to main menu.

Asus p8b75-v, core i5-3570, 2 x chinese "Avanshare" 2-sided 8gb@1600Mhz (cpu and mem all auto, no overclock). Testing now for 150 hours - no freezes. Looks like it was some unpredictable single glitch. My bad, i deleted log from this run. This setup - Asus p8b75-v, core i5-3570 with good power supply (fsp 450w) is used for testing ddr3 memory for a long time with several generation of uefi Memtests and it's quite stable.
Will continue looking and testing. There are a lot of memory, boards and servers to do.
