  • Both sticks failing test 10

I've recently purchased a new PC and have been getting some Memory_Management crashes. I ran memtest and its failed on test 10. I then tested each stick individually and both sticks failed on test 10, one with more errors than the other. The Ram is Corsair and I have read forum posts from here I think (i've read a lot of posts) about them having a bad batch potentially or a lot of people experiencing this problem.

The company I purchased the build from are saying another piece of software OCCT should have detected the errors and are asking me to re-install windows. Is that correct should OCCT have detected it? I know that memtest runs outside of OS so I'm unsure how a re-install is going to fix this and they don't really seem to be acknowleding the fact the memtest has failed on memtest86 and memtest86+

This was the previous issue with Corsair RAM. It started a couple of years back in 2023. So I hope / assume it was fixed by now.
Your RAM errors does fit the pattern of that 2023 error however. The error was on Test 10. Which was the bit fade test (i.e. the RAM forgets it contents when not in use). How old are the RAM sticks?

Re-installing Windows won't fix RAM problems found in Memtest86.

As far as I know OCCT doesn't include any bit fade test. So seems very unlikely OCCT is going to find this fault. Plus testing RAM in Windows isn't great as a big section of the RAM won't be available for testing.

The PC is a custom build new the end of last year. Before posting here I did query the support team why they were ignoring the memtest and pointed out that memtest runs outside of the OS so reinstalling windows won't do anything. After that they agreed to replace the RAM. I received new RAM tested it and it's all fine. Not sure if this was stock of DDR5 they'd had around for a while but it is odd that it seems to be the same issue.
