Hi all,
I was hoping to get some advice on what the minimum performance metrics would need to be on MS storage space drive for Hyper-V. This drive to host multiple VM’s. ( I am aware this may be difficult to answer due to different types of VM’s and applications that run within them )
Our test is running on below server.
Dell R730XD Server – 3.5” 12 Bay
Dual Intel Xeon E5-2690 V4 – 14 Core
Dell Broadcom 5720 Quad Port 1GB NDC
256GB RAM
H730/1GB RAID Controller –
1 x Dell Samsung PM1725a PCI 1.6TB NVMe SSD Drive
3 x ST16000NM001G Seagate Exos X16 3.5" 16000 GB Serial ATA III drives in NON-RAID Model
Storage Space drive setup = 1 x NVME, 2 x 16GB Mechanical VD = Mirror – no tiering. ( we found Tiering so much slower on CDM Tests )

OS: Windows Server 2019 Datacenter (Full installation) [10.0 Build 17763] (x64)
We are just not sure these speeds will be adequate for running multiple virtual machines. Also, is there a specific recommended setup on CDM for testing drives that would be hosting virtual machines.
