  • New Pc. Poor Performance. CPU Issue

    Hi everyone,

I just received a brand new computer, after recently running some benchmarks and seeing poor results ( not even 4000 in PCMark Vantage ) in PerformanceTest I'm asking myself if something's wrong or not.

You can see on this picture my PassMark Rating : 787
for an Intel Core2 Quad Q82000 @ 2.33GHz, 4094 MB Ram, Geforce GT130 768MB. However I am worried by the line ' Cores per CPU : 1 ' Shouldn't it be 4 ? Why does it show only 1 when in Device Manager it shows all 4 ?

Also, why do I see only 2 CPU Windows in CPU Usage history in Task Manager ?

    Thanks

Yes a Quad CPU should have 4 cores.
But as PerformanceTest only displays 1 core, and Windows itself only displays 2 in task manager, I think something is wrong.

It would be interesting to get to the bottom of this as we have see about 0.1% of the baseline results sent to us have this same problem. (about 1 in 1000 machines).

We'll post or E-mail you some debugging instructions to at least see why PerformanceTest is only reporting 1 core.

Can you also check in BIOS to see if there is some setting to disable multiple cores.

Can you please follow the instruction on this page for running PT in Debug mode and send us the output so we can have a look.
