The wife's computer deleted it. I will zip it. Shouldn't delete a zip.

Can you try this new build and see if the problem still occurs.

It says the Direct X 10 test failed to switch to full screen. When I click ok it just skips the test.

Does the standard DX11 test run in a window on your system? We a tracking another problem that may be related, it is supposed to run full-screen but we are thinking it may not on some systems. There seems to be an issue in Win 8 on some systems that is causing failures when trying to run full screen DirectX applications.

You've already mentioned Virtu MVP, and tried turning that off, but can you think of any other software on your system that might be interfering. Something perhaps a little more common that an average user might be running, any software that came with your motherboard or any anti virus package you are using.

The DX11 test runs normally full screen. Tried shutting down one thing at a time so far have had no luck. Just running Windows Defender and Windows Firewall for security.

We appreciate your interest in helping us track down this issue, however we've reached something of a dead-end at this point.

The crash is occurring source code module provided by Microsoft, and is related to the DirectX swap chain. No other users have reported any problems similar to this so we believe it to be something very specific to your system.

We will keep the details of this case on file, so that if anyone else reports the issue we can investigate further and see if there is any similarities between systems seeing this problem. However for the time being we are unable to provide a solution.

I have the same problem with crash or rather immediate BSOD. Two hosts. Win XP SP3, DX9.0c, both systems are updated. On one is Intel GMA 915 (laptop), and the second is desktop AMD 64 X2 4200 with Nvidia 8600 GTS. Passmark 7 works, Passmark 8 - immediate BSOD. The app runs, starts first test where some object is turning around, and second later it BSODs. So passmark won't run correctly on DX9.0c or has some bug inside.

Is the crash only occurring once the 3D test starts? If you run the 3D tests individually is it one particular test causing the crash?

Could you please run PerformanceTest in debug mode, as described here, reproduce the crash and send us a copy of the log files that are created.

With DEBUGMODE the test lasts longer - 10-15 seconds. This is not registered version of PassMark 8, so after accepting poping info about unregistered version the tests runs automatically. I made minidumps from both machines (only text info) and the log files from AMD64.
Remove _ from w_ww from links to make them work.
From minidumps I noticed that problem lays in DirectIo32.sys ( DirectIo32+27bd ) (on both hosts).

For host with Pentium M and GMA915 (only text version of minidumps):

                      https://w_ww.dropbox.com/s/uz9fbjz8n..._gma915_02.txt

                      For AMD 64 with GTS8600:
                      https://w_ww.dropbox.com/s/96tpllore...SysInfoLog.txt
                      https://w_ww.dropbox.com/s/nxdqxq9ou...erfTestLog.txt
                      https://w_ww.dropbox.com/s/93z5xt4b9...minidump01.txt
                      https://w_ww.dropbox.com/s/u7b64w3kl...minidump02.txt

As I remember, error code "c0000005" means that app tried to write access the region of memory what is read only, or read access the region which doesn't exists.

                      Regards

There is an updated installer for PerformanceTest at http://www.passmark.com/ftp/petst1032a.exe. Could you please install this version and let us know if you're still getting the crash.

It is stable now. Thanks for help.

EDIT: was it a bug which only occurres on Win XP?

EDIT2: It is stable on GMA915 too. But the app takes almost all cpu resources when doing nothing (rotating mainboard). The GMA915 machine has one core Pentium M 1.7GHz. It is laptop. On AMD X2 I didn't notice that app needs so much cpu. Is it normal?
I can't practically make any tests on GMA915 because when CPU works on 100% (or almost) it overheats and built-in throttling algorithm reduces voltage to prevent cpu damage. It makes that efficiency of the machine to cyclicaly drops dramatically for few seconds.

EDIT3: Ok, selecting any other tab than Main (rotating motherboard) makes CPU usage dropping to 0% so maybe it is normal to take 100% of CPU when displaying 3d animation.
Made all tests and uploaded results, and no crash.

Yes it is normal that the 3D animation uses a lot of CPU time on a low end CPU.
But the animation is stopped automatically when a test is run, or you switch to a new tab.
But your CPU should not overheat and throttle so easily. It probably needs a better heat sink and or fans.

No, it was an issue in the 32bit device driver (directIO32.sys) PerformanceTest uses for system information collection.
