  • Question about laptops declining scores

It's over 3 years old,.and I imagine an upgrade might be needed at some time. It is working well, save for the bench scores.

I have it set in performance mode, and it is plugged in I've run at least 5 different tests over the years..it's had a fluid spill, and I've had it apart a few times.

A question, though...are the scores from different PM versions much changed?

most recent score which shows a huge jump in disk mark as I replaced a declining NVMe drive with a 970 Evo Plus, the best of the Gen 3 drives. https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V...d=178242630123

old and best saved score: https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V...d=126413358242

    Thanks.

Yes, there have been some changes between V9,10 & 11.

    See,

    and
    https://forums.passmark.com/performa...1-beta-release

But we try hard to not have any significant changes between point releases, e.g. 10.0 to 10.1

As you seem to be comparing a V9 result to a V11 result, it isn't ideal.

In 2019, this was a high end laptop. Now it is just an average machine.

The old V9 software is still available for download if you wanted to do an apples to apples comparison

      Thank you, David,

I also ran benches on my two PC's-- Ryzen 3700x and 5950X. The individual test scores were similar between v.10 and 11, which did temper my excitement a bit after the 5950X PC scored about 14500!

I'm running v.9 on the laptop right now..... Its v 10 and v 11 scores were quite similar, fwiw.... but, as I said, the cpu, gpu and even memory are lower than they were back in 2021, which was also v.10. I may be wrong, as I can't find the saved test run from a few short months ago, but it was quite good.

The fresh run is on the right. The v.9 cpu scores are way down from 2019, the 2d as well, while the 3d is oddly close. Memory scores down by some 25%. I've checked to make sure its running in performance mode.

Since the links you sent implied that older test scores are being adjusted, if I understood what I was reading, and the cpu-z scores are actually little changed, with geekbench scores down 10-20%...then, maybe its not all that bad. I imagine I'll just keep this not that old tool ticking for a while yet....
